Neurigona henana Wang, Yang and Grootaert View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 8–10 View FIGURES 8 – 10 )
Diagnosis. Seven strong dc bristles, 8–9 irregularly paired acr bristles. Tarsomere I1 slightly shorter than tibia I, tarsomeres I1–5 each with row of short v bristles; tarsomere II1 with 4–5 short black v bristles; tarsomere III1 with 1 ad bristle and 3– 4 v bristles, tarsomere III2 with row of about 10 short erect v bristles.
Description. Male. Body length 5.8–5.9 mm, wing length 5.0– 5.1 mm.
Head metallic green with pale gray pollen; face narrow, eyes contiguous on median portion of face. Hairs and bristles on head black; postocular bristles pale. Antenna yellow; first flagellomere about as long as wide, somewhat acute apically ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ); arista brownish with basal segment 0.1 times as long as apical segment. Proboscis brownish yellow with pale hairs; palp pale yellow, with pale hairs and 2 yellow apical bristles.
Thorax yellow with yellow pollen; scutellum and metanotum yellow; pteropleuron with a small black spot just below wing base. Hairs and bristles on thorax black, but those on pronotum and propleuron yellow; 7 strong dc bristles, 8–9 irregularly paired acr bristles. Propleuron with 2 yellow bristles on upper portion and several pale hairs on lower portion. Legs yellow; coxae I–III yellow; tarsomeres I2–5 – III2–5 brownish to brown. Hairs and bristles on legs black; coxa I with yellow hairs and 4 yellow bristles on anteroapical portion; coxa II with black hairs and bristles; coxa III with 1 black outer bristle at basal 1/3. Tibia II with 3 ad bristles, 2 pd bristles, 4 av bristles, and row of uniformly soft and pale ventral hairs on whole length, apically with 3 bristles; tibia III with 3 ad bristles, 1–2 pd bristles, and 3 v bristles, apically with 3 bristles. Tarsomere I1 slightly shorter than tibia I, with 5–6 short v bristles; tarsomere I2 with 6–7 short v bristles; tarsomeres I3–5 with short ventral hairs somewhat erect. Tarsomere II1 with 4–5 short black v bristles. Tarsomere III1 with 1 ad bristle and 3– 4 v bristles; tarsomere III2 with row of about 10 short erect v bristles. Relative lengths of tibia and 5 tarsomeres of legs LI 9.6: 9.2: 4.5: 3.2: 2.2: 1.2; LII 13.6: 4.2: 4.8: 2.9: 2.0: 0.8; LIII 20.6: 7.0: 6.8: 3.6: 2.0: 0.8.
Wing ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ) hyaline; veins black, M1+2 gently bent apically and convergent with R4+5; CuAx ratio 0.43. Squama yellow with pale hairs. Halter yellow, knob brownish yellow.
Abdomen yellow with yellow pollen; terga 2–5 each with a large black basal spot; hypopygium shiny black. Abdominal segment 5 with brown ventral projection. Hairs on abdomen chiefly black.
Genitalia ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 10 ). Epandrium short, basally with 2 thick or thin fingerlike processes; surstylus with dorsal lobe short and wide, and with a long acute process at dorsal corner; ventral lobe long and wide with 2 thin processes apically. Cercus wide with long and thin dorsal apex. Hypandrium short. Aedeagus slender.
FEMALE. Body length 6.9 mm, wing length 5.0 mm. Similar to male, but abdominal segment 5 without ventral projection.
Type material. Holotype male, Henan: Luoyang, Songxian, Tianchishan, 12. VII. 2004, HD. Paratypes 1 male and 1 female, same data as holotype. Holotype and paratypes deposited in CAU.
Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Henan.
Etymology. The specific epithet derives from the type locality in Henan.
Comments. The species is similar to Neurigona wui sp. nov., but can be separated from the latter by the coxa II with the black hairs and bristles, and the wide cercus has the long and thin dorsal apex. In N. wui , the coax II has yellow hairs and yellow apical bristles, and the cercus is somewhat rectangular without the long dorsal apex.
