Type material

HOLOTYPE: CMNHZC 783 , female (SL 2.4 mm), “Shadow Cave”, Kumejima Island , Ryukyu Islands, 20 m, coll. T. Kawamoto, 24 November 2001 . PARATYPE: CMNHZC 1820 , 1 male (SL 2.7 mm), Maedamisaki , Onna , Okinawajima Island, Ryukyu Islands, submarine cave, 3 m, coll. Y. Fujita, 8 November 2003 .

Distribution

So far known only from Okinawa Island and Kumejima Island , Ryukyu Islands , submarine caves, 3–20 m.

Remarks

This species resembles P. maorus and P. nomurai , but is readily distinguished by the less stout ocular peduncle, different pattern of the setation of the ultimate segment of the antennular peduncle, the rounded shape of the anterior lobe of the sixth thoracic sternite, as well as the coloration in life (see Osawa et al. 2006).
