Type species: Hexacentrus unicolor Serville , by original monotypy.
Diagnosis. Body size medium to large. Fastigium of vertex compressed laterally, with or without a median longitudinal sulcus. Pronotal disk expanded in the middle, posterior margin of lateral lobe strongly inclining, without humeral sinus. All femora with ventral spines, fore and middle tibiae with six pairs of elongate spines, shortening gradually from base to the end. Tegmina of male appearing inflated. Cerci of male at the base robust; apical third narrowed and curved inwards; apex pointed. Subgenital plate of male elongate, posterior margin with shallow notch, styles slender. Tegmina of female normal, not expanded. Cerci of female simple, conical. Posterior margin of subgenital plate of female with shallow excision or bifurcated. Ovipositor straight or curved, apically acute.
