This species has been adequately described by Hardy (1973) and Hancock and Drew (1999). It resembles A. tomentosa Hardy in possessing costal band interrupted by a hyaline transverse band just beyond cell sc, but differs in having scutellum entirely black except for a yellow mark on each side at base of basal scutellar setae and dark fuscous femora. It is now known from southern India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos and Indonesia.
