Type material. Holotype male (SUM-IC-T0482), JAPAN: Gifu, Mino, Nagara River, 12.ix.2009 (adult emerged 18.ix.2009). Paratypes. 1 male (SUM-IC-T0477), same locality as holotype, 4.v.2008 (adult emerged 11.v.2008); same data as holotype except 6 males (SUM-IC-T0483, T0485–T0489, adults emerged 20–26.ix.2009).

Etymology. From Latin latus, broad, referring to the prominent lateral lobe in the aedeagal complex.

Description. Male (n = 8). Body length 2.4–3.0, 2.7 mm.

Colouration. Thorax yellow with dark brown scutal vittae, anepisternum II, preepisternum, scutellum and postnotum. Abdomen pale yellow with dark markings; tergites III–V with 3 dark brown spots anteromedially and anterolaterally, but anteromedial spots occasionally absent; tergites VI–VIII mostly dark brown; hypopygium pale yellow. Wing ( Fig. 64 View FIGURES 64 – 66 ) darkened on humeral cross-vein, RM, FCu, apex of R4+5, and areas along C between apices of R1 and R3, and above RM; distal marking in anal cell separating into 2 spots. Subbasal and median bands on foretibia located 0.75–0.79 and 0.38–0.41, respectively, from apex of tibia.

Head. Temporals 19–24, 22, multiserial except uniserial postorbitals. AR 1.1–1.4. Clypeus rounded with 22– 32, 27 setae. Lengths of palpomeres 1–5 (μm): 40–50, 43 (6); 60–75, 68 (5); 125–153, 139 (7); 138–170, 156 (7); 220–265, 246 (7). Pm4 1.1–1.2 times as long as Pm3; Pm5 1.5–1.7 times as long as Pm4.

Thorax. Aps 7–10, 8; Ac 41–53, 44 (5), biserial between median scutal vittae, diverging posteriorly; Dc 16–21, 18, uniserial, becoming biserial anteriorly; H 6–12, 9; Pa 14–23, 18; Su 1; Scts 27–39, 32.

Wing. Length 1.5–1.9, 1.7 mm. Squama with 27–37, 30 setae. VR 0.81–0.87.

Legs. Spur on foretibia 35–43, 38 μm long, with 9 (3) lateral teeth. Spurs on mid tibia 45–53, 48 and 25–35, 30 μm long, with 7–8, 7 (3) and 5 (6) lateral teeth, respectively; inner spur 1.5–1.8 times as long as outer spur. Spurs on hind tibia 50–60, 54 and 28–35, 32 μm long, with 4–6, 5 (5) and 3–4, 3 (3) lateral teeth, respectively; inner spur 1.5–1.8 times as long as outer spur; hind tibial comb consisting of 4–5, 4 bristles. All legs with subapical pseudospurs on ta1–2 or ta1–3; claws pointed apically, each with 2 long and 3–4 short basoventral spines. Lengths and proportions of leg segments as in Table 6 View TABLE 6 .

Hypopygium ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 64 – 66 ). Tergite IX with 2–4, 3 lateral setae. Gonocoxite 95–118, 107 μm long; dorsal lobe 15– 20, 18 (7) μm long, with setal fringe along almost full length; blade 33–40, 37 (7) μm long, curved and apically sharp-pointed; lateral lobe 40–50, 46 (7) μm long, broad, with apex pointed; lateral filaments not evident ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 64 – 66 ). Gonostylus 125–140, 134 μm long, 1.2–1.3 times as long as gonocoxite, with apically acute megaseta. Female, pupa and larva. Unknown.

Remarks. The male of A. (K.) lata most resembles that of A. (K.) makarchenkoi in the aedeagal complex with a broad lateral lobe, but differs from the latter in the dorsal lobe with a setal fringe along its almost full length. A. (K.) makarchenkoi has a dorsal lobe with a setal brush at the apex.
