The species has been reported from Mexico, Surinam, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and South America ( Metcalf 1963a).

The Mexican specimens appear to be separated from the remaining locations and their status needs to be re-evaluated. It has been reported from Veracruz ( Stål 1864, Distant 1881).
