Distribution. – India, Bangladesh, China [Tibet], Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, West Malaysia, Indonesia: Kalimantan, Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok (d’Orchymont, 1927 & 1932; Hebauer, 1995b; Hansen, 1999) and Singapore (Balke et al., 1999).
Ecology. – A lentic species living in very shallow water at the edge of exposed, well-vegetated ponds, pools, puddles and slow-flowing streams and ditches, in primary and cultivated areas, very often in temporary habitats. The species is also attracted to light.
