Description of Planococcus halocryophilus BT 723
Cells are Gram-staining-positive short rods without a flagellum. Colonies are circular, convex, glistening, smooth, opaque, and ivory-colored after three days of incubation at 25℃ on R2 A agar. Positive for gelatinase and β-galactosidase activities. Utilizes D- glucose. Negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, esculin hydrolysis, and arginine dihydrolase and urease activities. Does not utilize L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N- acetylglucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain BT 723 (= NIBRBAC000508871) was isolated from soil from Samcheok, Gangwon-do, Korea (37°31′14.5″N 129°07′ 18.4″E) GoogleMaps .
