Anthobium flavoguttatum View in CoL sp.n.

( Figs 2 View FIGURES 1–2 , 22–24 View FIGURES 20–23 View FIGURE 24 )

Type material examined: Holotype ♂ [dissected]: ‘ CHINA: Sichuan (2) | Qingcheng-Shan, | Rückseite , 650–700m | 30.53.56N, 103.33.01E | 18.05.1997, M. Schülke’ <printed>, ‘HOLOTYPE | Anthobium | flavoguttatum sp. n. | Shavrin A.V. des. 2022’ <red, printed> (cSch).

Paratypes (4 specimens): 3 ♂♂ [one specimen dissected], 1 ♀: same data as the holotype, with additional red printed label : ‘ PARATYPE | Anthobium | flavoguttatum sp. n. | Shavrin A. V. des. 2022’ (1 ♂: cSh; 2 ♂♂, 1 ♀: cSch) .

Description. Measurements (n=5): HW: 0.60–0.62; HL: 0.30–0.35; AL (holotype): 1.20; OL: 0.17–0.20; PL: 0.41–0.50; PW: 0.92–0.95; ESL: 1.27–1.35; EW: 1.37–1.42; AW: 1.11–1.13; MTbL (holotype): 0.50; MTrL (holotype): 0.30 (MTrL 1–4: 0.16; MTrL 5: 0.14); AedL: 0.45–0.60; TL: 2.46–3.13 (holotype: 2.86).

Habitus as in Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 . Body brown to dark brown; apical, lateral and basal portions of pronotum, basal, lateral and apical portions of elytra and apical segments of abdomen yellowish (lateral portions of head paler; pronotum of holotype and one paratype paler, yellowish, with long brown median spot); antennomeres 4–11 yellow-brown; mouthparts, antennomeres 1–3 and legs yellow. Body without microsculpture except of latero-apical portions of clypeus with indistinct transverse microreticulation. Head with very sparse, moderately fine punctation, sparser and finer in middle portion and sometimes with narrow median impunctate area; punctation of pronotum irregular, finer and sparser in medioapical and middle portions, and larger, deeper and denser in lateral and mediobasal portions; punctation of elytra denser, larger and deeper than that on pronotum, finer in parascutellar area and along suture, on each elytron forming six to seven very tangled and vague longitudinal rows of punctures.

Head 1.7 times to twice as broad as long, with distinctly elevated middle portion, without or with distinct small semicircular impression in mediobasal portion; anteocellar foveae missing or very short and narrow, about as long as diameter of ocellus; postocular ridges distinct, acute; anterio-lateral portion between antennal insertion and anterior margin of eyes widely concave. Ocelli very large, situated at level of postocular ridges; distance between ocelli about twice longer than distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Apical maxillary palpomere about 1.4 times as long as preceding segment, from basal portion significantly narrowed toward acute apex. Antennomeres 5–6 slightly shorter than 4, 7–8 slightly broader than 6, 9 slightyl shorter and broader than 8, 10 distinctly shorter than 9, apical antennomere 1.3 times as long as preapical segment, from apical third gradually narrowed toward subacute apex.

Pronotum narrow, about twice as broad as long, 1.5 times as broad as head, with widely rounded anterior angles, not or slightly protruded anteriad; middle without or with distinct deep semicircular impression im mediobasal third; lateral portions with moderately deep and oval pit slightly in front of middle.

Elytra about three times as long as pronotum, distinctly broader than long; latero-basal edges with distinct, acute crenulation.

Metatarsus 1.6 times as long as metatibia.

Abdomen distinctly narrower than elytra.

Male.Abdominal tergite VIII and sternite VIII concave.Aedeagus with moderately wide basal portion, gradually rounded toward rounded apex; parameres reaching apical part of median lobe, with widened apical portions and two long apical setae; internal sac very long, spirally folded in basal portion, with paired, sclerotized, moderately long thorn-shaped structures in apical portion ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 20–23 ). Lateral aspect of aedeagus as in Fig. 23 View FIGURES 20–23 .

Female. Abdominal tergite VIII and sternite VIII rounded.

Comparative notes. Based on the coloration and the body length, A. flavoguttatum sp.n. is similar to A. fortepunctatum sp. n., from which it differs by more transverse pronotum, longer elytra with distinctly larger, deeper and denser punctation, and narrower apical portions of the parameres.

Distribution. This species is known only from the type locality in the Qingcheng Shan in Sichuan, China ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 ).

Bionomics. The specimens were collected at elevations 650–700 m a.s.l. and were taken by sifting of litter in the forested parts and heaps of straw on small meadows.

Etymology. The specific epithet is the Latin adjective flavoguttatus, -a, -um (yellow spotted). It refers to the coloration of the elytra with yellowish spots on basal, lateral and apical portions.
