Remarks. Bathycheles was originally established as a subgenus of Pylocheles by Forest (1987a), but subsequently raised to a full genus by McLaughlin & Lemaitre (2009). Within Pylochelinae , it is easily recognized by the reduced, non-pigmented corneas and non-operculate chelipeds. Two species are recorded from the study areas, representing the most abundant pylochelids.
