Empicoris tessellatus McAtee et Malloch [nec Bergroth], 1926: 129, 131. Preoccupied. Type locality: Singapore. Empicoris tesselatoides Wygodzinsky et Usinger, 1960: 267 View in CoL (new replacement name for Empicoris tessellatus McAtee et Malloch ).
Material examined. Non-types: 23 ( VAST and TUA) — [ Vietnam] Phu Tho Province: 13, Xuan Son, Thanh Son, 12.vi.2003, T. X. Lam. Hai Phong Province: 13, Cat Ba, Cat Hai, 10.v.2003, T. X. Lam.
Diagnosis. Recognized by a combination of the following characters: posterior lobe of head with small tubercle behind interocular furrow; eye large, exceeding level of ventral surface of head in lateral view; posterior pronotal lobe lacking tubercle posteromedially; lateral carina of posterior pronotal lobe developed throughout length of posterior lobe and weakly sinuate; metafemur with apicalmost blackish annulation wide and with distal whitish part very narrow; pygophoral posterior process deeply incised at middle; incision of pygophoral posterior process about 0.7 times as deep as length of posterior process; paramere clavate, curved inwards in apical one-third, obtuse at apex; struts of phallus abruptly curved downwards at apical one-fourth in lateral view, widely bifurcate in apical one-fourth in dorsal view, with apical margin nearly straight around middle; styloides covered with about 4 setae at middle; and each arm of styloides widened medially. Body length 4.2–5.0 mm.
Distribution. Vietnam (Phu Tho and Hai Phong Provinces), Japan, Mariana Islands, Singapore.
