Amended generic diagnosis (after Schminke 2011): A.I 6-segmented. A.II 5-segmented; outer seta of terminal segment in male transformed into a long strong fang curved inwards. Md with big tooth of the ventral edge; lobe with row of 3 claws. Maxilla 3- segmented. Th VIII of male twice as long as wide; penial region consisting of 2 lobes: dentate and posterior lobes; dentate lobe with up to 20 denticles; external lobe fused with basipod; exopod located on distal face of basipod; endopodal segment completely reduced. Th VIII of female 1-segmented and very reduced in size. Furcal rami with 3 terminal spines.
Type species: Racovitzaibathynella emilei Serban and Coineau, 1994 . Type locality: interstitial of Mutlumuvi River, Krueger National Park, Transvaal, South Africa.
Other species: Racovitzaibathynella transvaalensis Serban and Coineau, 1994 . Type locality: interstitial of Mutlumuvi River , Krueger National Park, Transvaal, South Africa .
