( Figs 19–21 View FIGURES 19–21 , 244 View FIGURES 242–250 )

Type material. HOLOTYPE ♂: THAILAND, Chiang Mai Province, Doi Phahompok National Park , Doi Phaluang , 20°1.06'N, 99°9.581'E, 1449 m, 13.vii.2007, light trap, M. Sharkey & P. Wongprom [ T6063 ] ( QSBG). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The species is named from the Greek ancyclochiles (= hook-beaked) in reference to the hook-shaped apical process on the hypandrium.

Diagnosis. A black legged species with largely dark setae on coxae, stylus micropilose on basal 0.7, distinguished by having 1 strong seta on postpedicel of antenna.

Description. Male: body length 3.5 mm. Head subshining black, dusted greyish especially on occiput; face black; occipital setae black, setae on lower occiput hardly paler. Antenna black; postpedicel ovate in lateral view, ~2.X long as wide, with 1 anteriorly directed dorsal seta, slightly longer than postpedicel; stylus ~4X long as postpedicel, micropilose on proximal 0.7, hairs shorter than stylus is deep; apical 0.25–0.3 bare. Mouthparts blackish, palpus narrow, with distinct apical and ventral hairs. Thorax with ground colour black; postalar callus laterally, scutellum narrowly at base yellowish; postpronotal lobe and pleura patchily very vaguely yellowish; dusted brownish; acr 4-serial; acr and dc fine and hair-like, posterior dc and acr before prescutellar area conspicuously stronger but very fine; 1 fine pa; 1 strong and 1 weak npl; a few small setae about and behind postpronotal lobe; 1 pair of fine sct with smaller hairs on posterior margin of scutellum. Legs subshining black, thinly dusted; ‘knees’ of all legs hardly paler. Coxae with hairs and bristles mostly dark brown or yellowish brown. F 1 with av fringe of dark hairs about as long as limb is deep; somewhat longer than posteroventral fringe. F 2 with av and pv fringes of fine bristles, about as long as limb is deep; a few short fine anteroapical bristles distinct from otherwise short hairs dorsally. F 3 moderately inflated, widest 0.6–0.8 from base; ventral spines black, comprising two rows of ~12 distinct bristles, some of which are as long as limb is deep; pv fringe yellowish brown, hardly distinguished from other fine long pubescence except near tip where longest; 1–2 fine, rather proclinate, curving, anterior preapical setae. T 1 with ventral hairs pale, rather erect, ~3X long as limb is deep on distal 0.5; dorsal hairs darker, less numerous, rather proclinate, 2–3 on distal 0.6 somewhat longer than others. T 2 with distinct fine bristle at ~0.4 distinguished from other fine dark hairs; ventral hairs paler, longer, 2–3X long as limb is deep near tip; apical bristles darker but no longer than surrounding setae.T 3 gradually widening distally, ~1.5X wide at tip as at base; dorsal hairs longer than limb is deep, at least distally; short erect yellowish brown pile ventrally near tip contiguous with similar pile on MT 3. MT 1 and MT 2 with longer hairs ventrally. MT 2 without strong ventral bristle near base. MT 3 and second tarsomere spinose ventrally. Wing membrane clear basally, brownish apically; veins brown. Stigma rather indistinct, brown, short, reaching costa ~0.7 distance between end of R 1 and R 2+3. Cell dm elongate, about as long as upper vein (M 1) from apex of cell; crossvein dm-cu perpendicular. Squama with pale fringes. Halter brownish white. Abdomen black, dusted greyish, subshining with golden yellow reflections. Hairs mostly pale, some short dark bristles on posterior margins of tergites. Terminalia rather broad ( Figs 19–21 View FIGURES 19–21 ), subshining black, less strongly dusted, setae black. Left epandrial lamella with strong bristles distally. Left surstylus strongly directed internally and narrow viewed from above ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 19–21 ), obliquely triangular viewed laterally ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 19–21 ). Right surstylus very broad, bluntly pointed apically ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 19–21 ). Hypandrium ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19–21 ) with small blunt process and larger curved process apically and narrower subapical process at the base of which is a row of short fine bristles. Female: Unknown.

Comment. Hybos ancyclochiles sp. nov. is known from a single specimen collected at Doi Phahompok (Daen Lao Range), northern Thailand ( Fig. 244 View FIGURES 242–250 ). Hybos ancyclochiles sp. nov. is similar to H. ngachang sp. nov. but has only one distinct seta dorsally on the postpedicel, cell dm is not shortened and the male mid femur lacks a pair of closely set ventral bristles.
