ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Thlipsomyza castanea Macquart, 1840 ; Thlipsomyza heteroptera Macquart, 1840 .

TYPE SPECIES: Thlipsomyza castanea Macquart, 1840 , by subsequent designation ( Bezzi, 1924: 43) .

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Amictus Wiedemann, 1817 [ teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 229) ].

FAMILY: BOMBYLIIDAE .

REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus-group name in Rondani (1863): Thlipsogaster (page 98) and Thlypsogaster (page 72). Acting as First Reviser, Bezzi (1924: 4) selected Thlipsogaster as the correct original spelling. Paramonov (1939: 28) also selected Thlipsogaster , but this were later.

REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes or two or more names from “i” to “y” in the same work. Thlipsomyza Wiedemann, 1820 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Amictus Wiedemann, 1817 [ teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 229) ].
