CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 277) ].

REMARKS: Although Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 270) gave the method of type fixation for Schineria in Rondani (1857: 12) as by monotypy (it is by original designation), they listed the type species as dating from Rondani (1859b: 46). This is incorrect. The characters in Rondani (1857: 12) that make the genus-group name available serve to also make available Schineria tergestina as the singly included species. O’Hara et al. (2009: 173) correctly interpreted the type species as Schineria tergestina Rondani, 1857 .

CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Sciomyza Fallén, 1820 ; junior synonym of Sciomyza Fallén, 1820 . New synonymy.
