ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Spathipalpus philippii Rondani, 1863 ; Spathipalpus flavifrons Rondani, 1863 (as “ S. Flavifrons Phil.”).
TYPE SPECIES: Spathipalpus philippii Rondani, 1863 , by subsequent designation ( Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1893: 132).
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Guimarães (1971: 118) ]. FAMILY: TACHINIDAE . REMARKS: Townsend (1916: 9) designated the same type species but was later. The designation by Brauer &
Bergenstamm (1893: 132) is not invalidated by the rulings in I.C.Z.N. (1928: 1 [Opinion 98]; 1956a:
307–328 [Direction 32]).
