CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Norrbom et al. (1999: 210) ].

REMARKS: Norrbom et al. (1999: 210) missed the original designation by Rondani (1870a: 7) and incorrectly listed the typification as by monotypy.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Stenepteryx Leach, 1817 or subsequent usage of Stenopterix Millet de la Turtaudière, 1849 .

FAMILY: HIPPOBOSCIDAE .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Stenepteryx Leach, 1817 using the spelling “ Stenopterix ” that we have found in this study is Stenopterix Millet de la Turtaudière (1849: 164) , n. syn., as an unjustified emendation made available by similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work. Stenepteryx Leach, 1817 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Craterina Olfers, 1816 [ teste Maa (1963: 96) ].
