CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Sphyxosoma Rondani, 1856 ; junior synonym of Conops Linnaeus, 1758 . New synonymy.
FAMILY: CONOPIDAE .
REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “ph” to “p” in the same work. Sphyxosoma Rondani, 1856 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Conops Linnaeus, 1758 [ teste Chvála & Smith (1988: 248) ].
