CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Sphixea Rondani, 1845 ; junior synonym of Milesia Latreille, 1804 . New synonymy.
FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE .
REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “i” to “y” in the same work. Sphixea Rondani, 1845 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Milesia Latreille, 1804 [ teste Peck (1988: 210) ].
EMENDATIONS: Specea Bezzi, 1906: 51 (unjustified).
