CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Platystoma Meigen, 1803 View in CoL or subsequent usage of Platistoma Lioy, 1864 .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Platystoma Meigen, 1803 using the spelling “ Platistoma ” that we have found in this study is Platistoma Lioy (1864c: 1019) , n. syn., as an unjustified emendation made available by similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work.
