ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Psalida leucostoma Rondani, 1856 (as “ Tachina Leucostoma Mgn. ”).

TYPE SPECIES: Psalida leucostoma Rondani, 1856 (as “ Tachina Leucostoma Mgn. ”) [= Ocyptera simplex Fallén, 1815 , new synonymy], by original designation.

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Leucostoma Meigen, 1803 [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 419) ].

FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .

REMARKS: Rondani (1856: 76) designated “ Tachina leucostoma Mgn. ” as the type species; however, there is no such name in Tachinidae . Brauer (1893: 495) interpreted the intended species as Ocyptera simplex Fallén, 1815 (“Genus Psalida Rdi. — Type: simplex Fll. ”), as have subsequent authors. There are criteria in Rondani (1856: 76) to make available both the genus-group name Psalida and the speciesgroup name Psalida leucostoma Rondani, 1856 (as “ Tachina Leucostoma Mgn. ”; the singly included species). The species listed by Rondani (1856: 76) as “ Tachina Leucostoma Mgn. ” is actually Psalida leucostoma Rondani, 1856 , a junior synonym of Ocyptera simplex Fallén, 1815 ( teste this work).

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Psalidomyia Doumerc, 1833 .
