TYPE SPECIES: Cecidomyia albitarsis Rondani, 1840 (as “ Cecidomia ... Albitarsis ”), by monotypy.
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Gagné (2004: 53) ].
FAMILY: CECIDOMYIIDAE .
REMARKS: Originally proposed as a genus (here treated as a subgenus) within the genus “ Cecidomia ” [= Cecidomyia Meigen, 1803 ].
EMENDATIONS: Porrhocondyla Agassiz, 1846b: 306 (unjustified), n. syn.; Porrycondyla Walker, 1874: 15 (unjustified), n. syn.
