TYPE SPECIES: Pterelachisus bertei Rondani, 1842 , by monotypy .
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Oosterbroek & Theowald (1991: 131) ].
FAMILY: TIPULIDAE .
REMARKS: Originally proposed as a subgenus of Tipula Linnaeus, 1758 . The secondary proposal in Rondani (1842b: 2) has the species name misspelled as “ Berteii ”.
