ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Dolichopus griseipennis Stannius, 1831 (as “ Dolicopus Griseipennis Stann. ”).

TYPE SPECIES: Dolichopus griseipennis Stannius, 1831 (as “ Dolicopus Griseipennis Stann. ”), by original designation.

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Dolichopus Latreille, 1797 [ teste Brooks (2005: 46) ].

FAMILY: DOLICHOPODIDAE .

REMARKS: Rhagoneurus Loew (1864: 346) was listed as an (unjustified) emendation of Ragheneura Rondani, 1856 by Brooks (2005: 47) but, in our opinion, Loew is explicitly proposing a new genus (“I propose for this new genus ...”) complete with diagnosis and type species. Loew at the same time misspelled Rondani’s genus as Rhageneura.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Rhagio Fabricius, 1775 or subsequent usage of Ragio Scopoli, 1777 .

FAMILY: RHAGIONIDAE .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Rhagio Fabricius, 1775 using the spelling “ Ragio ” that we have found in this study is Ragio Scopoli (1777: 408) , n. syn., as an unjustified emendation made available by similar spelling changes in two or more names from “rh” to “r” in the same work.
