ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Stratiomys viridula Fabricius, 1775 (as “ Od. Viridula (europ.)”).
TYPE SPECIES: Stratiomys viridula Fabricius, 1775 (as “ Od. Viridula (europ.)”), by original designation .
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Woodley (2001: 286 ; 2011a: 393)].
FAMILY: STRATIOMYIDAE .
REMARKS: Verrall in Scudder (1882: 166) listed the spelling Hoplodonta and this was cited as an unjustified emendation by Woodley (2001: 286), but criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in Scudder (1882). Hoplodonta Verrall, 1882 is thus an unavailable name, new status.
