CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Woodley (2001: 73) ].
FAMILY: STRATIOMYIDAE .
REMARKS: Verrall in Scudder (1882) listed the spellings Hoplacantha (page 166) and Oplacantha (page 236) and these were cited as unjustified emendations by Woodley (2001: 73), but criteria for making these names available as emendations were not found to be fulfilled in Scudder (1882). Hoplacantha Verrall, 1882 and Oplacantha Verrall, 1882 are thus unavailable names, new status.
