CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Ortochile Latreille, 1809 View in CoL or subsequent usage of Orthochile Blanchard, 1845 .

FAMILY: DOLICHOPODIDAE .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Ortochile Latreille, 1809 using the spelling “ Orthochile ” that we have found in this study is Orthochile Blanchard (1845: 479) , n. syn., as an unjustified emendation made available by similar spelling changes in two or more names from “th” to “t” in the same work.

[ Orthoneura ] Rondani, 1856: 52, 217. CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Orthonevra Macquart, 1829 . FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE . REMARKS: The earliest mention of Orthonevra Macquart, 1829 using the spelling “ Orthoneura ” that we have found in this study is in Partington (1837: 770), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani

(1856) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “nevra” to “neura” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1856) as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
