CURRENT STATUS: Preoccupied by Harris, 1826; junior synonym of Asphondylia Loew, 1850 [ teste Gagné (2004: 74) ].

REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “ph” to “f” in the same work. Phytophaga Rondani, 1840 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Cecidomyia Meigen, 1803 [ teste Gagné (2004: 100) ].
