338. Morphomyia Rondani, 1862d: 47 .
CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Morphomya Rondani, 1856 ; junior synonym of Stomina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 . New synonymy.
FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .
REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “mya” to “myia” in the same work. Morphomya Rondani, 1856 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Stomina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 391) ].
339. Mya Rondani, 1850c: 175.
ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Mya versicolor Rondani, 1850 ; Chrysomya alia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ; Mya semidiaphana Rondani, 1850 .
TYPE SPECIES: Musca semidiaphana Rondani, 1850 [= Lucilia nubipennis Rondani, 1848 ], by subsequent designation ( Pont, 1983: 108).
CURRENT STATUS: Preoccupied by Linnaeus, 1758 (I.C.Z.N., 1957: 161 [Direction 72]); Röding, 1798; senior (but invalid) synonym of Hemilucilia Brauer, 1895 [ teste this work].
FAMILY: CALLIPHORIDAE .
REMARKS: Rondani (1856: 90) designated Musca vomitoria Linnaeus, 1758 as type species [which was followed by Schumann (1986: 17)], but this was not an originally included species, hence is not a valid fixation of the type species. Coquillett (1910: 571) designated Musca segmentaria (stated to be “the third species”) as the type. Rondani (1850c: 177) indicated that his third species (“ Mya Semidiaphana Mihi”) was near Musca segmentaria Fabricius (“para vicina alla Musca segmentaria del Fabricius”). However, as this is not enough to have Musca segmentaria as an originally included species, the designation by Coquillett (1910: 571) is not valid. Pont (1983) in his application to the ICZN Commission noted the absence of a previous valid type species fixation for Mya Rondani, 1850 and selected Musca semidiaphana Rondani, 1850 as the type species. Mya semidiaphana Rondani, 1850 was treated as a junior synonym of Musca segmentaria Fabricius, 1805 in Hemilucilia Brauer, 1895 ( James, 1970) . Thompson & Pont (1994) noted that Musca segmentaria Fabricius, 1805 is preoccupied by Musca segmentaria Panzer, 1804 and placed the former as an invalid senior synonym of the next available name, Lucilia nubipennis Rondani, 1848 , which is followed here.
EMENDATIONS: Myia Bezzi & Stein, 1907: 545 (unjustified).
