CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ; junior synonym of Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 . New synonymy.

FAMILY: MUSCIDAE .

REMARKS: This is one of two original spellings (the other is Hydrotoea , page 212) in Rondani (1856), both of which are eligible as emendations by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “t” to “th” ( Hydrothaea ) or “a” to “o” ( Hydrotoea ) in the same work; however, as both names are used for the same taxon ( Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ), they cannot both be emendations. Acting as First Reviser, we select Hydrothaea as the correct original spelling, which relegates Hydrotoea (q. v.) to unavailable name status.
