ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Sciomyza fuscipennis Meigen, 1830 .

TYPE SPECIES: Sciomyza fuscipennis Meigen, 1830 , by monotypy .

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Pelidnoptera Rondani, 1856 [ teste Rozkošný & Elberg (1984: 169) ].

FAMILY: PHAEOMYIIDAE .

REMARKS: Previous workers have dated this genus-group name from Rondani (1869a: 10). However, in a footnote in Rondani (1868c: 204), the name is made available by a discussion of its characters and the inclusion of one species ( Sciomyza fuscipennis Meigen, 1830 ). Thus the typification is by monotypy. Thinking Lignodesia dated from Rondani (1869a: 10), Rozkošný & Elberg (1984: 169) designated Sciomyza fuscipennis Meigen, 1830 as the type species for Lignodesia . They overlooked the typification by monotypy in Rondani (1868c: 204) and apparently missed Rondani’s (1869a: 7) typespecies citation of the same species.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Limnoea Rondani, 1856 .

FAMILY: LIMONIIDAE .

REMARKS: Criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.
