ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Rhingia ferruginea Fallén, 1817 (as “ B. Ferruginea Mgn.”).
TYPE SPECIES: Rhingia ferruginea Fallén, 1817 (as “ B. Ferruginea Mgn. ”), by original designation .
CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Hammerschmidtia Schummel, 1834 [ teste Peck (1988: 137) ].
FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE .
REMARKS: Bigot (1883: 248) listed the spelling Exochila, but criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.
