ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: None.

FIRST INCLUDED SPECIES: Mimosciara molobrina Rondani, 1840 (in Coquillett, 1910: 545).

TYPE SPECIES: Mimosciara molobrina Rondani, 1840 [= Catocha latipes Haliday, 1833 ], by subsequent designation ( Coquillett, 1910: 545).

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Catocha Haliday, 1833 [ teste Gagné (2004: 19) ].

FAMILY: CECIDOMYIIDAE .

REMARKS: Furcinerva Rondani, 1846 was given characters to make the name available and was proposed as a new genus-group name for a merger of four genera, but it did not include any nominal species. Coquillett (1910: 545) was the first to include a species, and at the same time he designated it as the type species of Furcinerva .
