ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Gonirhyncus dispar Rondani, 1856 .
TYPE SPECIES: Gonirhyncus dispar Rondani, 1856 [= Myopa occulta Wiedemann, 1824 ], by original designation.
CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Myopa Fabricius, 1775 [ teste Chvála & Smith (1988: 262) ].
FAMILY: CONOPIDAE .
REMARKS: Chvála & Smith (1988: 262) have Rondani (1857: 240) as the publication making the genus-group name and its type species available. This is not correct, since the characters in Rondani’s (1856: 58) key serve to make available both the genus-group name Gonirhyncus and the species-group name Gonirhyncus dispar as the singly included species.
