CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Ammobates Stannius, 1831 ; junior synonym of Tachytrechus Haliday, 1851 . New synonymy.
FAMILY: DOLICHOPODIDAE .
REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of the original and changed spellings being printed together and the changed spelling being adopted. By listing Ammobates Stannius in the annotation underneath his heading of Hammobates, Rondani (1857: 14) satisfied the criteria for Hammobates to be considered an emendation. Ammobates Stannius, 1831 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Tachytrechus Haliday, 1851 [ teste Brooks (2005: 120–121 , 126)].
