TYPE SPECIES: Ceratitis citraperda Macleay, 1829 , automatic [by designation of the same species (by monotypy) for Ceratitis Macleay, 1829 ].
CURRENT STATUS: Unnecessary new replacement name for Ceratitis Macleay, 1829 (as “ Ceratites Mac.Leay 1829 ”); preoccupied by Endlicher, 1836; junior synonym of Ceratitis Macleay, 1829 [ teste Norrbom et al. (1999: 119) ].
