180. Dytricha Rondani, 1870a: 8 .
CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Dithryca Rondani, 1856 ; junior synonym of Dithryca Rondani, 1856 . New synonymy.
FAMILY: TEPHRITIDAE .
REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “i” to “y” in the same work.
[ Echinomia ] Rondani, 1861e: 166.
CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Echinomya Latreille, 1805 .
FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .
REMARKS: The earliest mention of Echinomya Latreille, 1805 using the spelling “ Echinomia ” that we have found in this study is in Brullé (1831: 267), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1861e) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1861e) as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
[Echynomia] Rondani, 1844c: 105.
CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Echinomya Latreille, 1805 .
FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .
REMARKS: The earliest mention of Echinomya Latreille, 1805 using the spelling “ Echynomia ” that we have found in this study is in Lacordaire (1834: 95, 228), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1844c) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1844c) as an incorrect subsequent spelling. Echinomya Latreille, 1805 (as “ Echinomyia ”) is currently treated as a junior synonym of Tachina Meigen, 1803 [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 263) ].
