TYPE SPECIES: Masicera florum Macquart, 1850 [= Phorocera rubrifrons Macquart, 1834 ], by subsequent designation (Brauer, 1893: 476).

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 237) ].

REMARKS: Ceromasia Rondani, 1856 was originally proposed as a subgenus of Masicera Macquart, 1834 and without included species. Brauer’s (1893: 476) type species is the tenth of the first eleven included species in Rondani (1862a: 43–45).
