ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Tachina gnava Meigen, 1824 .

TYPE SPECIES: Carcelia bombylans Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 , by fixation of O’Hara et al. (2009: 60), misidentified as Tachina gnava Meigen, 1824 in the original designation by Rondani (1856: 66).

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Carcelia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 212 ; as “ Chaetolyga ”)].

FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .

REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus-group name in Rondani (1856): Chetoljga (page 66) and Chetoliga (page 205). By subsequent usage (ICZN Code Article 24.2.4), Rondani (1859b: 96) acted as First Reviser and selected Chetoliga as the correct original spelling. Although Rondani (1859b) used two different spellings of this genus-group name, Chetoliga (page 96) and Chetolyga (pages 93, 103, 234), he satisfied Article 24.2.4 by using only one of the original (1856) spellings ( Chetoliga ) as valid ( Chetolyga was not one of the original spellings).

REMARKS: This spelling would be eligible as an emendation of Chetoliga Rondani, 1856 by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “i” to “y” in the same work, but as Rondani (1859b) is considered a First Reviser in selecting Chetoliga as the correct original spelling, he cannot at the same time have emended that spelling.
