117. Chrysoclamys Rondani, 1856: 51 .
CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Chrysoclamis Walker, 1851 ; junior synonym of Ferdinandea Rondani, 1844 . New synonymy.
FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE .
REMARKS: This is one of two original spellings (the other is Chrysochlamys , page 206) in Rondani (1856), both of which are eligible as emendations by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “i” to “y” in the same work; however, as both names are used for the same taxon ( Chrysoclamis Walker, 1851 ), they cannot both be emendations. By subsequent usage (ICZN Code Article 24.2.4), Rondani (1862b: 5) acted as First Reviser and selected Chrysoclamys as the correct original spelling, relegating Chrysochlamys (q.v.) to unavailable name status. Chrysoclamis Walker, 1851 is an unnecessary new replacement name for Ferdinandea Rondani, 1844 [ teste Peck (1988: 122) ].
[Chrysomia] Rondani, 1861e: 164.
CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Chrysomyia Macquart, 1834 .
FAMILY: STRATIOMYIDAE .
REMARKS: The earliest mention of Chrysomyia Macquart, 1834 using the spelling “ Chrysomia ” that we have found in this study is in Boitard (1843: 306), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1861e) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “myia” to “mia” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1861e) as an incorrect subsequent spelling. Chrysomyia Macquart, 1834 is the earliest available name for the genus but in order to maintain nomenclatural stability, the I.C.Z.N. (1987: 148 [Opinion 1443]) suppressed the little-used Chrysomyia Macquart, 1834 in favor of Microchrysa Loew, 1855 .
