128. Codionus Rondani, 1873e: 299 .
ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Codionus chlorizans Rondani, 1873 .
TYPE SPECIES: Codionus chlorizans Rondani, 1873 [= Ploas nobilis Loew, 1873 ], by monotypy.
CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Conophorus Meigen, 1803 [ teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 189) ].
FAMILY: BOMBYLIIDAE .
REMARKS: Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 189) incorrectly gave the original generic combination of nobilis Loew, 1873 as “ Bombylius ”.
[Coenomya] Rondani, 1856: 172, 206.
CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Coenomyia Latreille, 1797 .
FAMILY: XYLOPHAGIDAE .
REMARKS: The earliest mention of Coenomyia Latreille, 1797 using the spelling “ Coenomy a” that we have found in this study is in Latreille (1802: 439), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1856) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “myia” to “mya” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1856) as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
[Coephalomyia] Rondani, 1868d: 559.
CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Cephalemyia Latreille, 1818 .
FAMILY: OESTRIDAE .
REMARKS: Criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.
