CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Tryphera Meigen, 1838 [ teste Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 212) ].

REMARKS: Criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.

CURRENT STATUS: Unavailable name, not considered valid when proposed. Treated under Tricyphona Zetterstedt, 1837 [ teste Savchenko et al. (1992: 202) ].

REMARKS: In his errata, Rondani explicitly changed his Bophrosia to “ Triciphona Zett :”, which we take to mean that Rondani changed his mind about the name of the genus-group taxon containing Limnobia immaculata Meigen, 1804 , finally deciding to include this species within the nominal genus Tricyphona Zetterstedt, 1837 . Bophrosia clearly was not considered the valid name of a taxon and therewith was (and remains) unavailable from Rondani (1856). The name Bophrosia occurs, still as an unavailable name, in Bigot (1857: 521), and later in Bezzi (1892b: 78) as a name “proposed” in synonymy.
