CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Callomyia Meigen, 1804 .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Callomyia Meigen, 1804 using the spelling “ Callomya ” that we have found in this study is in Macquart (1835: 672). However, Macquart (1835: 19) also used the original spelling Callomyia . Callomya would be eligible as an unjustified emendation in Macquart (1835) by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “myia” to “mya” in the same work, but because Macquart (1835) provided both a changed and the original spelling his treatment of the name is ambiguous. We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
