15. Alloneura Rondani, 1856: 140 .
ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Pipunculus flavipes Meigen, 1824 .
TYPE SPECIES: Pipunculus flavipes Meigen, 1824 , sensu Rondani, 1856 [misidentification; = nomen dubium under Tomosvaryella Aczél, 1939 ], by original designation.
CURRENT STATUS: Suppressed by action of I.C.Z.N. (1961: 230 [Opinion 597]); senior (but invalid) synonym of Tomosvaryella Aczél, 1939 [ teste De Meyer (1996: 82) ].
FAMILY: PIPUNCULIDAE .
REMARKS: Hardy (1959) applied to the ICZN Commission to suppress the names Prothechus Rondani, 1856 and Alloneura Rondani, 1856 because they were based on misidentified type species both considered nomina dubia . Their acceptance would have threatened the stability of Verrallia Mik, 1899 and Tomosvaryella Aczél, 1939 . Although the application met strong resistance by J.E. Collin, the Commission ultimately voted in favor, thereby suppressing both Prothechus Rondani, 1856 and Alloneura Rondani, 1856 and placing Verrallia Mik, 1899 , Cephalosphaera Enderlein, 1936 , and Tomosvaryella Aczél, 1939 on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology. De Meyer (1996: 82) correctly cited Alloneura in synonymy with Tomosvaryella but incorrectly cited the type species of the former as Pipunculus flavipes Meigen, 1824 . Despite this, De Meyer (1996: 26) listed Pipunculus flavipes Meigen, 1824 not under Tomosvaryella but correctly under Cephalops as a junior synonym of Cephalops aeneus Fallén, 1810 .
