Diagnostic remarks. Among Mozambican Eurycorypha spp. this species is identifiable by the unique structure of the male 10 th tergite and cerci ( Figs. 40E, F View FIGURE 40 ); the coloration in both sexes is distinctly mottled and the tegmina exhibit a prominently light venation ( Fig. 40G View FIGURE 40 ).
Bioacoustics. The call of E. lesnei consists of short, 3-syllable echemes, the first two syllables being noticeably shorter than the 3 rd one, produced every 2–6 s. Mean duration of the 3 rd syllable is 0.01055 s (SD=0.00312, n=9); the call does not have a distinct frequency peak but most energy is within 11.7–22.8 kHz ( Figs. 56 View FIGURE 56 A–C). The call is very faint but audible from a distance of a few meters.
Distribution and natural history. E. lesnei was described from Chiramba in Zambezia Province of Mozambique but has since been collected in Sofala as well as northern parts of South Africa. In central Mozambique adults of this species can be found all year in lowland woodlands.
