Lathrolestes lidae sp. nov.

Figs 3, 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 9, 11 View FIGURES 7 – 12 , 13, 15 View FIGURES 13 – 16. 13 .

Diagnosis. The occipital carina complete, not reaching the hypostomal carina ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 16. 13 ). This species differs from closely related L. peisseli sp. nov. by the absence of postpectal and propodeal carinae ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ), petiolate areolet ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ), setae on basal part of hind margin of hind wing, and yellowish face ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ).

Description (Holotype female). Fore wing 4 mm long, body about 4 mm. Antennal flagellum with 28 articles. Width to length ratio of scapus 0.62. Head narrowed behind the eyes. Maximal length of temple to transverse eye diameter ratio 0.83; minimal length of temple to transverse eye diameter ratio 0.66. Face width to longitudinal eye diameter ratio 0.87. Face convex, with protuberance. Inner margins of eyes slightly convergent ventrad. Clypeus separated from face by shallow impression, projecting anteriorly. Apical margin of clypeus moderately obtuse, with long setae. Clypeal foveae small. Malar space half as wide as basal mandible width. Outer face of mandible with impression basally. Lower mandible tooth longer than upper, lower margin sharp. The occipital carina complete, not reaching the hypostomal carina ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 16. 13 ). Head matt, granulate.

Mesosoma matt, granulate, with white setae. Propleuron without lobe. Epomiae absent. Notaulus shallowly impressed at base. Mesopleuron granulate, impunctate, with deep impression at its hind edge. Prepectal carina distinct, its upper end distant from front edge of metapleuron. Postpectal carina absent. Scutellum convex, without lateral carinae. Forewing with areolet petiolate ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). Radius intercepting pterostigma before its middle. Second recurrent vein with a single bulla. Nervellus intercepted below middle. Nervulus interstitial. Basal part of hind margin of hind wing with long setae. Femur 6.67 times as long as wide laterally; ratio of articles 1-5 of hind tarsus 11: 5: 4: 2: 2. Tarsal claws not pectinate. Propodeal carinae absent ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ).

Metasoma weakly shiny. First metasomal tergum straight and elongate; its width to length ratio 0.5; without shallow longitudinal impressions; bordered by lateral longitudinal carinae; medial longitudinal carinae present basally. Glymmae deep. Second metasomal tergum without longitudinal carina basally, square. Ovipositor straight, thin, very gradually tapered from base to apex, without notch ( Figs 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 13 View FIGURES 13 – 16. 13 ).

Body brownish ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Clypeus, mandibles, coxae and trochanters whitish. Scapus, face, temples, area between eye and antennae, propleuron, tegulae, legs (except dorsal part of hind tibia) yellowish ( Figs 3, 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Antennal flagellum, head, mesosoma, and first metasomal tergum blackish. Other metasomal terga, tarsi, and dorsal part of hind tibia brownish. Pterostigma pale in its middle and brownish in outer part.

Type material. Holotype: female. Nepal, Kathmandu, Pulchauki, 2438 m., 7-14.viii.1967; Paratypes: two females, Nepal, Kathmandu, Godavari, 1828 m., 3.viii.1967, Malaise Trap, Canadian Expedition, CNC.
