Yunnan: Shweli Valley , 1525–1830 m, Jun 1912, Forrest 8130 (syntype: E) ; same loc., Aug 1913, Forrest 11901 (syntype: E; isotype: K); same loc., Forrest 17970 (syntype: E) . MYANMAR. Kachin State: Myitkyina District , 1525−2135 m, Jun 1914, Kingdon-Ward 1554 (syntype: E) .

Homotypic synonym: Rhytionanthos aemulum (W.W.Sm.) Garay, Hamer & Siegerist, Nordic J. Bot. View in CoL 14: 637, 1994.

Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Putao District: fide Aung et al. (2020: 64); Myitkyina District: type. Distribution:— Northern Myanmar, Thailand and southwestern China. Note:— Pearce & Cribb (2002: 468−469) suggested that further studies may show this species to belong within the range of variability in B. helenae (Kuntze) J.J.Sm.
