Basionym: Sarcanthus aspersus Rchb. View in CoL f., Hamburger Garten- Blumenzeitung 21: 297, 1865. Types:— MYANMAR. Tenasserim: Veitch’s collector 89 (lectotype: W-R 53507 & W-R 53509 , designated by Seidenfaden 1975b: 12). Syntypes: MYANMAR. Tenasserim: 1864, cult. Day s.n. (icon. W-R 53508 ) ; same loc., cult. Low s.n. (W-R); same loc., cult. Bullen s.n. (W-R).

Heterotypic synonyms: Cleisostoma bicuspidatum Hook. View in CoL f., Fl. Brit. India 6: 75, 1890. Sarcanthus bicuspidatus View in CoL (Hook.f.) J.J.Sm., Natuurk. Tijdschr. Ned.-Indië 72: 84, 1912.

Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Putao District ; SAGAING. Kale District (both fide Aung et al. 2020: 70). TENASSERIM. Types; same loc., Parish s.n. (icon. CAL) .

Distribution:— The Himalayas, northeastern India, southern Myanmar, Thailand and Indochina.

Notes:— Sheet W-R 53509 is treated as the type in W. According to Hooker (1890b: 75), there is also a type sheet at CAL (under Cleisostoma bicuspidatum ), which needs confirmation .
