Dendrobium peguanum Lindl., J. Proc. Linn. Soc., Bot. 3: 19, 1858. Types:— MYANMAR. Southern Bago Region: 5 Jan 1854, McClelland s.n. (syntype: K-LINDL); ‘BORNEO’ (probably Myanmar). Lobb s.n. (syntype: K-LINDL).

Taunggyi District: 590 m, 3 Mar 2014, Saw Lwin SL 59 ( RAF, RAF [s]) ; same loc., 15 Dec 2014, Fujikawa et al. 101847 ( MBK) . KAYIN. Thaungyin Valley, Beddome 8183 ( BM), det. P. Prommanut [as Dendrobium peguanum ] . BAGO. Pyay District: type ; Bago District: type. TENASSERIM. Parish 339 (not located), fide Parish (1883: 192; as D. pygmaeum ). MON . Thaton District: Swinhoe 82 ( K) ; Mawlamyine District: Parish 91 ( K). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Gamble 3554 ( CAL). Reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 75; as D. peguanum ), but we have not seen material from this area.

Distribution:— India, the Himalayas, Myanmar and Thailand.

Notes:— Dendrobium crispum is conspecific with D. pygmaeum , D. humile and D. peguanum . Unfortunately, it must replace the commonly used D. peguanum . When proposed, D. crispum had D. humile in synonymy. However, the description of D. crispum applies to another taxon (a species later described as D. turbinatum Ormerod & C.S.Kumar ), thereby confusing many later authors.
