Homotypic synonym: Cordula charlesworthii (Rolfe) Rolfe, Orchid Rev. View in CoL 20: 2, 1912.

Heterotypic synonyms: Cypripedium crawshayiae O’Brien, Gard. Chron. , ser. 3, 23: 18, 1898. Paphiopedilum charlesworthii (Rolfe) Pfitzer var. crawshayiae (O’Brien) Pfitzer in H.G.A.Engler (ed.), Pflanzenr., IV, 50 (12): 75, 1903 [as crashawae]. Paphiopedilum charlesworthii (Rolfe) Pfitzer f. crawshayiae (O’Brien) O.Gruss, Caesiana 12: 63, 1999. Type:— MYANMAR. Shan State: imp. Charlesworth & Co. s.n. (not known).

Specimens examined:— SHAN. Unspecified: type; same loc., Boxall s.n. ( SING). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Type. Reported from Yangon Region by Kress et al. (2003: 84), but we have not seen material from this area.

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand and southwestern China.

Note:— Cypripedium crawshayiae was named after the sister of Mr. Charlesworth and presumably wife of Mr. D.B. Crawshay. It was misspelled ‘crawshawae’ in Engler’s Pflanzenreich, but the spelling was corrected in the index. Some varieties have been named.

Basionym : Cypripedium concolor Lindl. ex Bateman, Gard. Chron. 1865: 318, 1865 ; Bot. Mag. 91: t. 5513, 1865. Type :— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District , cult. Rucker ex Parish 57 (holotype: K; isotype: W-R 36885 ) .

Specimens examined:— SHAN. Unspecified: Prayer s.n. (not located), fide Hooker (1890b: 170) . MON. Mawlamyine District : type; same loc., 915 m, 16 Oct 1927, Bogg BG 20 ( K). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Benson s.n. ( K); cult. Cibodas Bot. Gard. s.n. ( BO). Reported from Kayin State and Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 84), but we have not seen material from these areas.

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and southwestern and southern China.

Note:— Several proposed varieties have been published.

Paphiopedilum dixlerianum Braem & Chiron, Richardiana 1: 138, 2001. Type :— MYANMAR. Without locality: 650 m, 1997, imp. van Holle s.n. (holotype: SEL)

Specimen examined:— WITHOUT LOCALITY. Type .

Distribution:— Endemic.

Note:— Originally described as a distinct species similar to P.sukhakulii Schoser & Senghas. It was later interpreted as possibly being a natural hybrid between P. callosum and P. sukhakulii (O. Gruss, pers. comm.).
